Hope you're all happy... Seems it took a bit of reading... And a lot of force, but--[Urp!] But... It seems the lights are on again. Hopefully this can help open some of the other... doors.

Anyway. I'm going to take a nap.

Woke up feeling shitty. Wonder if it's because of all that 'nuclear-poison' stuff that people keep going on about. Maybe... Maybe just puke my entire stomach up... that sounds nice...

We've got a robot in the clinic room, anyway.

[That's definitely a fever. Is that one of the symptoms of radiation poisoning? Fuck if he knows; he'll just go with that diagnosis until somebody who knows better says otherwise. His grip is just as firm as always, and he tugs, trying to get her closer to the edge of the bed and sitting up.]

Okay, so next step! Getting your legs over the side of the bed! After that, you just drape your arm over my shoulders and we can do this thing. On the count of three.

One, two... three!

[The motion of being lifted was sudden, and the color in her face almost immediately faded to a pale greenish color. Urging back the sudden nausea she felt as she felt her small frame suddenly lifted over Yunlan's shoulders.]

Care-- Carful I-- ahhn...

[You know what? Never mind. Yelling at him was only making her feel sicker.]

[She went limp -- no, okay, she wasn't going to be able to walk at all, was she? Yunlan shifted her weight into his arms, quietly relieved that she wasn't any taller. Honestly it was a bit of a strain as it was.]

How's that? Let me know if you're gonna puke so I can get my feet out of the way.

[The grin he cast her was meant to be reassuring, but he doubted he'd managed to scrub all the worry out of it. Let's see-- he remembered seeing a sign for the infirmary in that direction....]

[Thankfully Yunlan was dealing with a tiny 5'2" assassin instead of the body type that the occupation would usually require. Not that Chocolat wouldn't argue by saying how it wasn't how you were built but what you could do that makes a true fighter.]

Ngggnmpf...

[That was most of what she could muster out in reply though. Her way of giving a vague agreement to what he said.]

Surprised... When we first met you seemed to not be too thrilled with me... Yet of all people you're the one pulling m'body to the nurses office. Heh...

Sure! I mean, you're reckless and just a bit bloodthirsty for my taste, plus you could wear shirts more often.

[Because severe radiation poisoning is the right situation to give constructive criticism, right?]

But it's not like you're gonna learn any better if I leave you to lie around puking on yourself.

[She wasn't going to more into it. She was far too sick to go into her reasoning or explanations. And really it seemed silly to explain her wardrobe choices now of all times. He'll just have to deal with her not acknowledging it yet again.]

With how well you fight, thought you understood such things.

[He sighs, shoulders sagging a little at her comment.]

Sure, sometimes you get hurt trying for a peaceful solution. And sometimes peaceful solutions don't work.

But that doesn't mean they aren't always worth trying for. The people on the other side of your weapon are people too. The worst thing you can do is to forget that.

So many people out there don't deserve the life given to them.

[It was blunt and unintentionally sounded horrible, but she meant what she had said to a degree. She had seen too much cruelty in her short young life to think otherwise.]

'N they won't-- And they won't take any peaceful solution as an answer.

[Her voice sounded a little weaker as she said that, as if she were dozing off a little. But in reality her mind was going back to a time when all she had going for her was that very thirst for blood.]

Some people won't take peaceful solutions. Hell, I'm a cop, I'd have been out of a job if nobody ever wanted to hurt anyone else, you know?

[Sure, "don't deserve the life they have" might sound horrible, but he's seen enough to make it relatable, too. Some people do terrible things. Some people hurt others wherever they go.]

But everybody deserves a chance.

[His tone's wry -- even self-deprecating. There are a lot of people he might not want to give a chance, even people who, if he hadn't given them a chance, would've done less harm. But he still believes what he's saying.]

I guess I'm a useless idealist, huh?

Heh, you think?

[Even in her state the comment had managed to get a wry chuckle out of her. She had seen the worst of the world for as long as she could remember, so she had forgotten how idealistic some people could be. It's true that there were plenty of good people in the world, and people who would comply to peaceful methods, but those people were the types to be walked all over by those who abused their power.]

Jus -means, despite what you were professionally, you lived a pretty good life. Could still see the good in the world.

Kinda jealous actually. ♥

[He chuckles, quiet.] Sure. It could've been worse, anyway.

But it's a choice, you know? It's your choice whether you go out expecting to see monsters or just a bunch of fucked-up people struggling to make their way in a world that's put them on steep and stony paths through life. You'll see monstrous acts done either way.

Actually...

[And there's the hallway leading to the clinic. He turns down it.]

... sometimes it's easier seeing the monsters.

I think the separation between fucked-up people an' monsters is th' amount of power and control they hold over others--mmph!

[Okay-- That, that was a lot to say considering her current constitution. None the less she couldn't seem to help herself, she was invested in the debate after all, and it at least seemed to be distracting her enough to keep her mind off of how shitty she felt.]

... S-Sorry.

[At least she really was trying to hold up her part in the debate.]

That just changes the amount of damage they can do. I think the difference's whether you want to demand better of them.

[But, that said, he gives her a tiny quirk of a grin.]

We're almost there. Want to take a rain check on the argument till you're feeling better?

[In fact, she was happy to hold him up on the offer. Her body going slack over his shoulders as she relaxed and simply allowed him to carry her on to the medical ward.]

You're... You're a pretty nice guy... You know that?

Most people who know me think I'm an asshole!

[He chuckles, softly enough not to jostle her.]

Maybe you just need to get to know me better. Here we are, Chocolat.

[He nods at the robot floating in the ward, heading straight for the nearest exam table; he doubts she's going to be able to walk even the few steps there from the door. Not without hurling all over the sort-of-clean floor, at any rate.]

Want me to stick around, or would you rather I clear out and left you to the tender mercies of our medic?

"Haeh, you? An asshole? Last I thought 'assholes' didn't help out sick damsels in distress ♥," Her voice took a forced and flirty tone as she spoke. Her strained expression only seeming to relax as Yunlan placed her down on the cold dilapidated medical-cot. "Ahn, but don't worry about me, dear. Already been talking to Saya who's also dealing with this.... Sandy's walking her over now so... So I think I should be good as long as I don't vomit any more stomach acid."

Her voice was still forcefully cheerful and soft but how weak she felt was obvious. Her eyes half-lidded and her skin sickly pale as Charlette suddenly took notice of them. Quickly starting to fret and mother at Chocolat as she tried to get her vitals.

I'm just an asshole, not totally irredeemable. [He's teasing back, gently: he brushes the sweaty hair away from her forehead and steps back.]

Hey, I'll drop by and check in on you later. All right? You just rest.

Yeah, I'll just... [She yawned. Her eyes closing in order to block out the newly lit florescent lights that hung overhead. Damn, go figure she had to suffer further for returning the power once more.] I'll just get some rest... Until they show up...

[And he'll leave her to Charlotte's tender mercies, which don't seem to be involving the chainsaw at all.
